Toronto Raptors Head Coach Sam Mitchell will host his inaugural Sam Mitchell Celebrity Golf Tournament at Callaway Gardens, on Sunday, July 27, 2008.

Mitchell is hosting the scramble format golf tournament and a silent auction as a fundraiser for the non-profit The SaMarc Dream and Achieve Foundation, which provides camps, educational tours and resources for economically deprived youth in Mitchell’s hometown of Columbus, GA.  Mitchell founded the organization with Marc Upshaw, a friend and former collegiate basketball standout from Columbus.

“This is an opportunity to accomplish a dream and continue to give back to the young people in my hometown community,” said Mitchell, who kickoffs the 4^th annual Sam Mitchell “Dream and Achieve” Basketball Camp the following day (Monday, July 28) at Columbus State University at no charge to participants for approximately 200 youth.
