Refreshing Ideas for Spring Group OutingsPublished by admin on 03/22/2017
Spring! I'm more than ready to get out of the office and spend time in some type of physical activity in nature to refresh my perspective on life. My family, friends, and colleagues all feel the same way. After the cold, gray inactivity of winter, it's the perfect time for a group outing!
One of my favorite places, for a variety of reasons and for a variety of groups I'm involved with, is Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Georgia.
Every July my extended family, which is now scattered across the United States, has a big family reunion. The weekend we all get together is something everyone looks forward to, and Callaway Gardens is one of our favorite destinations.
Everyone can easily find flights into Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta or make the drive to Pine Mountain. The natural surroundings at Callaway Gardens are beautiful, and, with The Lodge and Spa, Southern Pine Cottages, Mountain Creek Inn, and Mountain Creek Villas and vacation homes, there's no problem booking accommodations that suit everyone.
There is ample picnic space, and the variety of things to do--golf, tennis, fishing, swimming, hiking, The Discovery Center and its Birds of Prey show, the Azalea Bowl with more than 3500 hybrid azaleas, the Day Butterfly Center, miniature golf and more--ensures everybody has activities they enjoy. My favorites are the 10-mile bicycle trail and nature trails.
Vacations and Weekend Getaways
Callaway Gardens is a great place for a family vacation. In addition to all of the activities mentioned above, during summer months the kids can play and splash on the white sandy beach at Robin Lake Beach and Aqua Island, or undertake the challenges of Treetop Adventures. Zip line, anyone? Make your reservations at The Lodge and Spa for a fun and fabulous weekend getaway.
While my family chooses mid-summer for a reunion, I have friends who are only able to connect with family over the holidays. Callaway Gardens would be a great venue for their gatherings as well.
Callaway Gardens offers a variety of Thanksgiving meals. So instead of shopping, cleaning and cooking, you can spend time enjoying your family and focus on creating wonderful memories. Every year Callaway Gardens provides a holiday wonderland named one of the best displays in the country by National Geographic Traveler. It has more than 8 million lights and 15 dazzling scenes. This season’s event runs Nov. 18, 2017 through December 31, 2017. Or join the fun December 31st for a rockin' New Year's Countdown.
Team Building and Group Meeting
Based on my enthusiasm for this beautiful place, the women of my church have been thinking about having a retreat at Callaway Gardens. The beauty and peacefulness make it an ideal place for a gathering like the one we're talking about. It's also a great place for a business to hold strategic retreats or team building activities near Atlanta.
Whether you have a family reunion to plan, a retreat for your group at work, church, or social club, or just want a fun weekend, a variety of packages are available. So, book your next getaway at Callaway Gardens.
