CALLAWAY GARDENS JR. CHALLENGE, JAN. 25-26, 2014; DEADLINE JAN. 15

The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour continues the start of the 2014 season when they travel to Callaway Gardens on January 25-26.  The Callaway Gardens Jr. Challenge will be ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. The tournament is open to boy and girl golfers between the ages of 11-18.  There’s a lot up for grabs at Callaway Gardens as well.  With the new AJGA Performance Based Entry for the 2014 season, all four age divisions are eligible to receive AJGA Performance Stars as long as the specific field requirements are met.  In addition, winners in all divisions will receive an invite to the HJGT’s 2014 Tour Championship at Champions Gate in Florida.  Top ten finishers will earn valuable points for end of the year honors, including the inaugural Hurricane Cup. In addition to all of these rewards, players will also receive Florida Junior Tour Exemptions.

Callaway Garden will be a 36-hole stroke play event. The first round will begin on Saturday with a double tee start running from 10 a.m. 1 12 p.m. The final round will also be double tee start on Sunday with times ranging from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The registration fee is $185 for members and $215 for non-members. For membership information, please refer to our website (click here).

Callaway Gardens’ golf pedigree stretches more than six decades, all the way back to 1949, when architect J.B. McGovern, with considerable input from Cason Callaway designed the first nine holes of the Lake View Course. In 1951, Lake View perfectly captured the vision that “playing golf should be a pleasant experience in beautiful surroundings.” Callaway Gardens host Junior Tournaments as well as both amateur and professional. The Mountain View Course is a challenging, but playable layout that will test your strategic and shot making abilities, just as it did for PGA Tour pros when it hosted the Buick Challenge from 1991 to 2002.
