Barn Owl

The barn owl is pale colored and has a distinctive heart-shaped face. The color of barn owls varies widely by sex. Males can be almost snow white while females may be very rusty in color.
This raptor hunts in open fields and roosts and nests in dark cavities including manmade structures like buildings and barns. It is nocturnal and preys mostly on small rodents. An adult barn owl can catch and devour a dozen mice per night. It is reported that they consume twice as much food for their weight as other owls. The barn owl can be found almost worldwide.

The wingspan of the barn owl is up to 3 1/2 feet.
