The peregrine falcon is another species that was once endangered but now flourishes thanks to programs which protect them. This bird is the fastest animal on the planet, reaching speeds of more than 200 miles per hour! It is so aerodynamically superior that the United States Air Force studied the birds to help design the F-16 Falcon Fighter Jet. In addition to its speed, the peregrine falcon is astonishingly agile making it a swift and efficient hunter.
