 Take a step back in time . . .

. . . to when life moved at a much slower pace. The Pioneer Log Cabin inside The Gardens at Callaway is testament to a time when life was basic and much simpler. Days were spent doing the endless chores it took just to survive. Children played with toys made from common materials like corn husks and sticks and rocks. Nights were lit by oil lamps, and bodies were so tired by the end of the day that even the thin mattresses were no obstacle to a good night's sleep.

Inside the log cabin you may marvel at pioneer life. Original and period reproductions of the furniture make you appreciate the comforts of today.

Constructed in the 1830s, this hand hewn, yellow pine cabin was occupied until the 1930s. The last family to live in its two rooms filled it to overflowing with 15 people. In 1960, the cabin was relocated to The Gardens from neighboring Troup County. Here it serves as a reminder of the challenges our forefathers faced daily.
