Important Bird Areas Program

Pine Mountain Ridge, including Callaway Gardens and Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, is designated an Audubon Important Bird Area (IBA).  The IBA program recognizes areas in the United States that provide critical habitat for one or more species of birds either during migration, breeding season or on wintering grounds.
