Founder's Day - Virginia Hand Callaway

February 21

Virginia Hand Callaway was a native of Pelham, Ga., where she loved to spend time in the outdoors.  She became so acquainted with native plants that she was often called a "self-taught botonist."  Callaway was later able to apply this knowledge as she and her husband Cason worked to restore the depleted cotton fields, today known as Callaway Gardens®, with plants indigenous to west-central Georgia.

To mark the occassion, organ concerts are scheduled at the Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
