The Preserve
Callaway Gardens is home to a 4610 acre preserve which is under conservation easement. This conserved, sustainably managed land is used for biological studies and environmental education programs.
Our mission is to operate The Preserve as a model of responsible land and wildlife stewardship through conservation, habitat management, sustainable forestry and watershed protection; to promote responsible public enjoyment of the land; to demonstrate a symbiotic relationship between humankind and nature throughout the Callaway organization; and, through research, education, partnerships, precept and example, to influence the wider community toward an appreciation of the natural world as the vital underlying infrastructure of civilization itself.
