Natural Biodiversity
All of Callaway Gardens' land, including The Preserve, is in a unique region of Georgia. In this area, the flat, sandy Coastal Plain ecosystem meets the rolling hills and clay soils of the Piedmont. Additionally, Pine Mountain Ridge, the southernmost mountain in Georgia, runs through the property and contains plant species typically found growing further north in the Appalachian Mountains. The intersection of these three natural communities allows for the great amount of biodiversity seen in the forests of this region.
