Thanksgiving Is Here: Dine at Callaway Resort and Gardens
Over the river and through the woods, to grandmother’s house we go? Not this time, granny. We’re taking you out to dine this year. So, sit back and enjoy the ride, or flight, or whatever it takes to get us there! You’re gonna be glad you came, especially when you spend the night in the four-bedroom villa rented with the family vacation packages offered at Callaway Resort & Gardens.
There’s a great vacation getaway near Atlanta at the 2,500-acre Callaway Resort & Gardens. Other family vacation resorts can’t compare with all the attractions at Callaway Resort & Gardens. There are AAA Four Diamond award-winning accommodations at the Lodge and Spa, or multi-bedroom villas with all the amenities, and cottages with cozy fireplaces. Folks have been vacationing there for decades at the beautiful resort. Callaway Resort & Gardens started as family retreat situated in the southernmost foothills of the Appalachians and evolved into a public vacation mecca. You can buy an overnight package, or stay as long as you want, but once you get a relaxing break from the ins-and-outs of everyday work, you won’t want to leave.
Things to Do
Thanksgiving is synonymous with football. For game time, you can unwind at the Spirit of ’52 pub for some family-friendly food, fun, and spirits, and watch the NFL games on one of 26 flat-screen TVs. The pub’s fare can be a casual snack, or delicious dinner. If the family isn’t into watching football, there’s hiking or bicycling through miles of peaceful trails. If you’re adventurous, try the Callaway Resort & Gardens ropes course at the TreeTop Adventure attraction. You’re safely harnessed to an overhead cable while you negotiate the 3,000-foot course of ropes strung between trees, 70 feet above the ground! For those who are not faint-of-heart, hop on one of the zip lines! Golf anyone? Tee off at one of two world-class golf courses. If relaxation is your cup of tea, visit the full-service spa at the Lodge.
Places to Dine
Callaway Resort & Gardens has nine restaurants to choose from, but you’ll probably want the eclectic southern fare offered by the Piedmont Dining Room for your Thanksgiving dinner. The atmosphere is as elegant as the food. The delicious, creative, menu changes to take full advantage of the changing seasons, with chef-prepared dishes that feature foods of the region. You’ll be presented with unique appetizers, healthful salads, and epicurean steaks, poultry, pork, and seafood entrees. In the morning, you might want to try the Country Kitchen for breakfast. Enjoy the spectacular ridgetop view from picture windows, while you enjoy plates of sausages and grits, or eggs Benedict. For a light lunch or snack, try the Callaway Discovery Center. This open-air café is located in a shady cove of Mountain Creek Lake, and features dining in the airy covered dining room, or the roomy patio overlooking the water. You can choose from salads, specialty sandwiches, soups, and delectable desserts. Then, sit back with your tall glass of sweet tea and watch the ducks paddle peacefully by.
