When Is the Best Time to Play Golf?

Golf vacations in Georgia aren’t the easiest getaways to set up. Even when you finally have the right time to play, you may not find the weather to be the best and have to deal with plenty of people on the course in the process. If you want to find the ideal time to hit the links on the best golf courses near Atlanta, you need to keep the following in mind.

The Best Season

Spring is the peak season to book a golf package in Georgia. While it may be warm and sunny some days, at least there is more of a guarantee that you can hit your ball no matter how low the temperature gets. It’s one of the better seasons to have a drink under the sun and let the breeze pass your face in the golf cart. If you prefer to walk for your whole session, be sure you come prepared with plenty of sunscreen and cold beverages to keep you safe from the sun.

Spring is, by far, the most popular season for golf. It can be difficult to schedule a time since you have many other people enjoying the weather as well as children and college students taking a break from school. You may have an easier time booking a tee time in late spring or early fall; that way, the temperatures are slightly cooler than the Summer heat and the kids are busy with their homework.

Tee

Which Weekday and Time?

It should go without saying that Saturday and Sunday are the most popular days of the week for golf. Monday and Friday also have their fair share of risks of being busy. While they are typically part of the standard five-day work week, the beginning and end of the week can vary for workers, and many often take these days off for an extended weekend. If you want to book a day that might have the least amount of people on the course, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday are your best bets. This can make planning for overnight stays at nearby resorts, such as The Lodge & Spa at Callaway, the Cottages, or the Villas, easier.

You won’t find too many sports as restricted as golf when it comes to outdoor conditions. With a couple of lights, you can still play tennis and basketball in the dark. That’s not the case with golf. Check with your course on what the earliest and latest tee times are. You should factor in how many people you think will be on the course and whether you will play nine holes or the full 18. The middle of the day tends to be popular since it is convenient for golfers to start their games when the sun is out in full force, and they will be done at a convenient time. If you have other plans for the day, try to grab an earlier tee time so you don’t have to worry as much about your schedule.

Call Callaway Resort & Gardens at 706-663-6799 to see what tee times are available at either of their beautiful courses: the Mountain View Course or the Lake View Course for your ultimate golf vacation in Georgia.
