Cast a Line in Some of the Best Lakes in the Southeast … or Just Enjoy the View by Boat

Some of the best fishing in the Southeastern United States is found right here, amidst the incomparable beauty of Callaway Resort & Gardens. Our thirteen sparkling lakes are renowned for enormous bream, crappie, shellcrackers, and trophy sized bass, and several lakes are seasonally stocked with rainbow trout. And because our lakes are private, no fishing license is needed.  If fishing is not your sport, enjoy some relaxing time on the water and spectacular views with a kayak or boat excursion.

2021 Fly Fishing School Updates
October 23 & 24

Callaway Outdoors & Boathouse operates daily year round (hours flex seasonally). This location offers jon boat rentals, canoes, kayaks, shore fishing, and private guided fishing excursions. Our lakes have some of the best fishing in the Southeast and carry trophy size bass. All fish are catch
and release. Fishing is only allowed in Mountain Creek Lake, unless booked on a guided trip.

Please Note: For the maintenance and health of our lakes, for the foreseeable future, Bass will be catch and release only as we work to develop a trophy fishing program at Callaway.

Shore Fishing at Mountain Creek Lake

Callaway Gardens fishing from the shore is allowed at the Boat House on Mountain Creek Lake, located beside the Callaway Outdoors shop.

With stocked live worms/crickets ($5 per container) and fishing poles available for rent ( $15 per rod & tackle) it’s as easy as just showing up for a fun day at Callaway. Shore fishing must be registered at the Pro Shop, $10 per hour, and children 5 and under are $5 each!  All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of their fishing experience. Come teach a child to fish and enjoy a lifetime of memories. Reminder: Bass are catch and release. Available daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
