The Ultimate Family Summer Bucket List at Callaway Resort & Gardens

June 30, 2026

Summer in Georgia has a rhythm to it. Long days, warm water, and that familiar itch to get the family out of the house and into something worth remembering. If you are hunting for the best summer family vacation Georgia has to offer, and you would rather skip the airport and the crowds, Callaway Resort & Gardens in Pine Mountain is built for exactly this. It is an easy drive from Atlanta and Columbus, and it packs a whole season of things to do with kids into 2,500 acres of beach, gardens, and adventure.

Consider this your family summer bucket list: seven things to do at least once before the season slips away, plus the easy ways to turn a day trip into an overnight.

1. Spend a Whole Day at Robin Lake Beach

Start with the star of the season. Robin Lake Beach is one of the  largest inland white sand beach in America, which means real sand, cool fresh water, and room to spread out. Kids can race across the twisting bridges and giant inflatables of Aqua Island, then cool down with paddleboats, kayaks, and paddleboards. When everyone needs a break, the sand is perfect for a castle or two. Pack plenty of Blue Lizard sunscreen and a couple of water bottles, and you have the easiest day of the summer.

2. Cool Off with the Butterflies

When the afternoon heat peaks, head indoors to the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. Thousands of brightly colored butterflies drift through a warm, glass conservatory, and little ones love standing still to see if one will land on them. It is the perfect midday escape, equal parts wonder and air conditioning, before you head back out for round two.

3. Catch Wild Air: A Live Action Spectacular

New this summer and an instant family favorite, Wild Air: A Live Action Spectacular by Moto Motion Entertainment brings BMX stunts, acrobatics, and specialty performers together for a genuinely thrilling, family-friendly show. If your crew loves the bike show, this is the one to build the day around. It runs May 29 through July 28 and is free with admission or as a resort guest.

Show Times

Wednesdays and Thursdays at 3 PM and 5 PM

Fridays at 4 PM and 6 PM

Saturdays at 2 PM, 4 PM, and 6 PM

Sundays at 1 PM, 3 PM, and 5 PM

(No performances Mondays and Tuesdays, or June 28 through July 4.)

There is more to see while you are on property. Cap the night with the Sunset Dance Party overlooking Robin Lake Beach, catch A Magic Show to Remember with Ken Scott, or test your luck at The Big Game Show* (select dates only)  at the Discovery Center. There is always something happening.

4. Hit the Trails on Two Wheels

The gardens are made for exploring. The 10-mile Discovery Bike Trail winds through woodlands and along the lakes, with plenty of family-friendly stretches for new riders. Did not bring the bikes? Bike rentals are available right on property, so you can roll out the door and into the trees within minutes.

5. Pull Up a Seat for the Luau Dinner & Show

For a dinner the kids will talk about all year, book a Friday night All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Luau Dinner & Show. You get a full buffet plus an hour-long Polynesian dance show, all in the open air at Cason's Garden. It runs Friday nights from May 29 through July 24, and reservations are smart since these evenings fill up fast.

6. Eat Well, the Easy Way

You do not have to choose between convenient and good. For lunch between beach activities, the casual beachside spots and the Lake View Bar keep everyone fueled without giving up your place in the sun. For a slower evening, settle in at the Piedmont Dining Room and let someone else handle dinner. Save room for a scoop of gelato, the unofficial flavor of a Callaway summer.

7. Turn the Day Trip into an Overnight

The best summer days do not really want to end, so give yourself another one. The Summer to Remember package is designed for, in Callaway's own words, "long, carefree days and nights filled with laughter, adventure, and time together." It includes up to 15 percent off your accommodations, a $150 food and beverage credit to use throughout your stay, and an Explorer Pass for each registered guest for activities like kayaking and Aqua Island. It is available through September 7, with your choice of the Lodge, a cottage, or a villa.

On the fence about how long to stay? The Third Night on Us package makes the decision easy. Book three or more consecutive nights and the third night is complimentary, with daily Gardens admission included. The booking window is open through August 29, so there is still plenty of summer left to claim it.

Do It for Less: Two Passes Worth Knowing

If your family plans to come back more than once, the passes pay for themselves fast.

2026 Summer Escape Pass

Visit all summer for the price of one day of Gardens admission. The Summer Escape Pass includes unlimited visits to Robin Lake Beach and the Gardens from May 29 through September 7, at $39.99 plus tax for adults and children, with kids 3 and under free. It is the easy answer for local families and frequent visitors.

2026 Explorer Pass

Built for a day of adventure, the Explorer Pass bundles Aqua Island, bike rentals, mini golf, pedal boat, and kayak and paddleboard rentals, a value of more than $70, into one ticket. It is the simplest way to say yes to everything.

Bonus Tip: Make That Credit Work

Here is a small secret from regulars. The food and beverage credit in the Summer to Remember package stretches further than you would expect. Use it for a relaxed beachside lunch and a sit-down family dinner in the same stay. Escape is calling, and so is the dining room.

Your Best Family Summer Is a Short Drive Away

No flights, no long-haul packing, no stress. Just an easy drive from Atlanta, Columbus, and across Georgia to a summer your family will be talking about long after the tan lines fade. Check the boxes, make the memories, and let Callaway Resort & Gardens handle the rest. Book your Summer to Remember stay and start your bucket list this week.
